An action is a legal symbol of ownership in a company. When you buy shares, you are actually buying the company's participation. In other words, you become a shareholder. A company normally extend ownership to hundreds or even thousands of shareholders. Shares are sold where the company wants to earn money cash. In a small company, we can say that the owner has 100% of all shares. However, when the company grows beyond a certain size, can need capital for expansion and selling shares is the easiest way to do it.
Most shareholders do not really have much say in how to run the business because their participation rate is negligible. To make a difference, you need a good number of units or you need to work with several small shareholders. Today, the stock became more of an investment rather than trying to run the business. You simply buy shares and wait for business to grow. This will assess the value of stocks and make money from their sale. Or you can simply do with the percentage of the profits of the company gives, depending on your actions.
The Exchange is where people buy shares. The three major market share in the U.S. are the New York Stock Exchange, American Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. The shares are bought and sold by dealers or direct investment and dividend reinvestment plans. The plans allow you to buy shares directly of firms in the market.
Wall Street is a famous and important in regard to the U.S. stock market. The street is named after the high fence built New York by Dutch settlers during the 17th century. Although the closure was extended to 1685, the next street who has been appointed permanently Wall Street. The history of the American Stock Exchange began in Philadelphia. The first scholarship was built here in 1770. Two years later, the first New York exchange has been opened, if you have less successful. In 1817, representatives of the NYSE came to Philadelphia to understand what was most active.
This has created a more disciplined and formal NYSE and advice. Another important point in this story is the crisis of 1929. Crash triggered the Great Depression.
